5 BEDROOMS, 4.5 BATH

"It is a really happy space," said Stella Harmon, owner of 74 Saturday Road in I’On.

"The living space is on the second floor and looks out on nature. It’s like the trees have grown over the house.

Harmon went on to say that the home, which was designed by architect Neal Van Dealen, “is really open and the layout flows well.” And two huge porches – the back porch is screened – invite you to sit and enjoy the greenery, including the resurrection fern that grows on the oak trees.

“I look out on my yard and I don’t even see the nearby houses,” Harmon said.

One of the nicest features of the home is that the living area and master bedroom suite are all on the second floor so there is no running up and down the stairs or using the elevator. Two bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first floor, and two additional bedrooms are on the third floor. A two-car garage is located on the ground floor.

“The rooms are not huge,” Harmon said. “They’re comfortable. The library is about 18 by 13 feet.”

Traditional in style, the house itself is simple but features unusual elements such an old mantel that was found in a flea market and the concrete countertop in the kitchen.

“I wanted the house to look old,” Harmon said.

The owner chose the lot for the beautiful oak trees and made sure everything was just perfect.”

The home, which was built by The Burton Company, is in the style of a Charleston single house. The Burton Company has been around for more than 20 years and is known for putting the clients’ needs first. The company has built numerous homes inside I’On.

“I love working with Neal Van Dealen and Jack Burton,” said Harmon, adding that “it was a really fun project. They made it such a wonderful experience.”

I’On is a unique, award-winning neighborhood concept that has taken hold in Mount Pleasant. Most homes are designed to resemble old Charleston homes, and the community itself is designed to foster neighborliness. In fact, Harmon is not moving far. She’s already purchased a lot inside I’On and looks forward to another good experience with Jack Burton. Until then, she is enjoying the house on Saturday Road to the fullest.

“It gets lots of sunlight,” Harmon said. “It’s a real happy house.”
